A Song of Ice and Fire, Doctor Who, Merlin, Part 1

A Song of Ice and Fire

So I just finished reading A Storm of Swords. I started reading the books after watching the HBO series Game of Thrones so needless to say, I'm one of those people whose jaw dropped to the floor when Ned Stark lost his head (quite literally). And from that day on, I hated that stupid Joffrey with every fiber of my being. That was why I rejoiced when I learned what happened to him in the third book.

For those who haven't read the books yet, here be spoilers:

...will make a grown man
weep tears of blood
Before I read A Storm of Swords, I was already kind of spoiled. This is teh internets after all. That's why the infamous Red Wedding didn't have that much of an effect on me. Although I love the Starks, I didn't really care much for Robb. He was barely in the books and even then he still managed to fuck up the very situation that could have won him the war. Meh... Although I was greatly saddened by what happened to Lady Catelyn.

I loved Sansa. I've loved her from the second book, actually. In A Game of Thrones, I hated her whiny bitch guts but she became kind of awesome as the story rolled on. I was expecting to hate her until the end of the series but I actually found myself waiting eagerly for the chapters in her point of view. Sansa FTW! But my favorite Stark would have to be Arya. She just kills everyone who gets in her way. Dream girlfriend!

This is fucking awesome.
The death that saddened me most in the book was... Oberyn Martell's! Yeey! I really liked the dude! He was a total badass. He was a new character so I didn't really expect him to kick the bucket yet but then, dum, dum, dum... I became a House Martell loyalist because of him. And the one that made me happiest was... hmm.. hard to say but I'd definitely put it down to either Lord Tywin's or Joffrey's death. I couldn't wipe the stupid smirk off my face as I was reading the lines. I would have to say though that Lord Tywin had a more spectacular death scene that Joffrey.

What else? Oh yeah, I loved Jaime in this book. He fucking rocked by the end. I was expecting to hate ALL the Lannisters!!! forever but I was somehow sold on Jaime. I hope he stays that way.

Everyone hates the Freys, but I kinda love 'em. They're... how do you say this? badass in the supervillain kind of way? Although they are evil murdering fucks, in my mind I picture them as a kind of Corleone family of the A Song of Ice and Fire universe.

I didn't really care much for Stannis or the Wall but I suspect I'd grow to love them some time in the fourth book.

It took me such a long time to finish the first three books and I had to stop between each book for about a month or two because I was drowning in descriptions. Everything's so very detailed... up to the food, but I couldn't help but notice that the only good kind of wine was the Dornish one?

I'd make a review for the second and the first books but I'm afraid I've forgotten most of what happened already.

A Song of Ice and Fire: So. Much. Happening. At. The. Same. Fucking. Time.

But still

I REGRET NOTHING!
